Electric locomotive ET41, of the Polish State Railway (PKP). Epoch IV
The PIKO ET 41 embodies, like the big prototype, a clear, functionally reliable and low-maintenance construction. As a double locomotive, the PIKO model consists of a vehicle segment with a drive and a segment without a drive. Thanks to the powerful engine with two precisely balanced flywheel masses and the cardan shaft drives on the two two-axle bogies, the PIKO ET 41 has very balanced running characteristics. The high dead weight, in combination with the diagonal traction tires of the axles running on the inside of the powered bogies, ensures prototypically high tractive forces. Since the four axles of the non-driven segment are also used to pick up current and both segments are connected via a live short coupling, the model has an extraordinarily safe current pickup over a total of 16 wheels. The model is prepared for digital operation and sound retrofitting. As a special feature, switching to overhead line operation is possible.
